Welcome Classmates!
How exciting to be writing to you from our own personal website! We are really part of the 21st Century by using this website. As you might know, your committee has been tirelessly working to put our reunion together. Time flys by quickly and suddenly it is 50 years since we all walked the halls of Heights together! Once again we will have the opportunity to gather on July 29 - 30, 2016. The innocence of our youth is something that can never be recaptured, but can certainly be remembered. Friendships, comraderie, victories, defeats, broken hearts...these are things that give us pause and brings a smile to our faces. Being together again allows us to reflect and recall and be transported to a time when the living was truly easy. I hope you will make your plans to come and enjoy this fabulous weekend.
It will be so much easier keeping track of all of you now on our website. Please click on First Time Visitors and follow the prompts. You will need to enter a password to get to your page. Once there, complete the profile form, add pictures, videos, memorabilia, anything you would like. If you have any questions or comments, please hit contact us link.
More information as to hotels, other activities, etc.will follow as we move closer.
I look forward to hearing from ALL of you that you are coming!

Death of Ruth Pergericht Marks
Our classmate, and my wife, Ruth Pergericht Marks, died January 9 after a year-long battle against mesothelioma. Ruth was diagnosed in December 2016 as she worked on completing her Master’s thesis in religious studies at Florida International University. She had taken a leave from her employment with the Miami Dade School System when she was offered full tuition support and a stipend to pursue a Master’s degree to complement her BA and JD.
Ruth’s fundamental identities were as an attorney who spent most of her career as an appellate criminal defense lawyer; and as the mother of our daughter, Sarah. Sarah, while working full time on a remote basis, was with her mother continuously through the last year, relocating to join us in Atlanta, where Ruth spent the last eight months of her life after surgery in Baltimore.
Those of you who knew Ruth will be well aware of her intelligence, curiosity, liveliness and her dedication to making the world a better place, either by defending those who could not defend themselves or by teaching children in underserved communities in Miami. Her death removes one small light from a world that sorely needs those who burn with a passion for helping others, and leaves a dark absence for those of us who loved her.
